What the weather in Dallas actually does
Over the 16.6 years from 2010-01-01 to 2026-07-27, the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center logged 1,072 severe-hail reports (1 inch or larger) within 28 miles of the centre of our Dallas footprint. Every report in the archive meets that one-inch severe threshold, so that is one count and not two. They landed on 164 separate days -- about 9.9 days a year, averaging 6.5 reports per hail day. 191 of them were two inches across or larger, which is 17.8% of the total: a violent mix -- roughly one report in eight was two inches or larger, which is the size that takes a roof rather than bruising it.
The largest stone anyone reported in that window measured 4.5 inches, on 2019-03-24 near Mckinney. Its worst year on record is 2024, which is recent enough that homeowners there still remember the storm without being reminded of it -- 2024 alone carried 146 of the 1,072 reports. By county, the damage concentrates in Collin County (280), Dallas County (274), Denton County (259), Tarrant County (193), Rockwall County (43), Kaufman County (21) and Ellis County (2).
The damage does not respect the metro boundary. When the Dallas phones actually ring
Hail has a season, and it is not the same season everywhere. In Dallas the reports cluster in April (347 reports), May (246 reports) and March (197 reports). Those three months carry 73.7% of everything logged in 16.6 years.
The season is comparatively spread out here, which is easier to staff but harder to notice: damage arrives in smaller waves across more of the year rather than in one obvious April spike.

Those ZIPs sit under Dallas, Irving, Frisco, Mckinney, Carrollton, Lewisville, Garland, Richardson, Grand Prairie, Mesquite, Waxahachie, Rockwall, Rowlett, Allen, Flower Mound, Lake Dallas, Coppell, Plano, Murphy, Forney, Melissa, Wylie, Seagoville, Sachse, Sunnyvale, Celina, Anna, The Colony, Little Elm, Prosper and Nevada. We publish the count and not the names: a contractor buying coverage in a market is evidence that we work that market, and it is not a testimonial. That constraint is also why this site has ten of these pages and not fifty. The list comes out of a client-ZIP export, not a keyword tool: 631 active client-ZIP records covering 480 distinct ZIP codes, held by 27 distinct paying clients. Ten metros carry at least 10 client ZIPs each and together account for 403 of those 480 ZIPs, or 84.0%. The three largest footprints are Denver (112 ZIPs, 5 clients), Dallas (91 ZIPs, 3 clients) and Fort Worth (54 ZIPs, 4 clients). Markets where the footprint was too thin to evidence did not get a page, and neither did Spokane, where we hold 27 ZIPs but the storm archive shows 20 severe-hail reports on 4 days in the entire window. A service area we cannot measure is a service area we will not claim.
What we actually do when the Dallas phones go

What that looks like in numbers is measured rather than promised. 10,794 outbound roofing appointment-setting calls placed Feb-Mar 2026, every one transcribed and analysed (10,848 transcribed in total; 54 belonged to a non-roofing plumbing list and were removed) Out of that corpus: Booked roofing calls run a mean of 215 seconds and a median of 192 (n=212, every booked call in the corpus). Calls ending "not interested" run a mean of 34 seconds and a median of 30 (n=60 random sample). Calls ending in a hang-up run a mean of 27 seconds and a median of 20 (n=40 random sample). Those are outbound calls on our own floor over a fixed window, not an industry average, and they are the same numbers whether you are calling Collin County or anywhere else -- the weather is local, the conversation is not.
